Absolute darts heart-throb Steve Beaton explains accidental Laura Woods kiss

Steve Beaton has opened up on the time Laura Woods accidentally gave him a kiss on the lips.

Woods revealed earlier this year that she planted a smacker on the legendary darts player when they got in a mix up over a hug. The hilarious incident happened after Woods had interviewed Beaton and went to shake the Bronzed Adonis' hand.

Beaton, however, went for a cuddle, which is when things all got a bit muddled. "Because he’d gone for a cuddle, I like put my arms around him and almost went for a kiss on the cheek," Woods recalled on the Happy Hour Podcast.

"He then realised I was for the kiss so he turned and we kissed on the lips. I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ He was like the holy grail and I'd poisoned it.

"Anyway, I realised and I went back into the truck, sat down and the guys were like, 'Are you alright?’ I had my head in my hands and was like, ‘I just kissed the Bronzed Adonis on the mouth and I felt his beard.' I felt like I’d done the worst thing in the world but now I revel in that."

Woods' story went down a storm with darts fans who loved the honesty of the TNT Sports presenter. And, speaking exclusively to Daily Star Sport, Beaton has now revealed his side of the exchange, with nothing but kind things to say about Woods.

"It was one of those things," he tells us, laughing. "Social media love all that, don’t they? They make it out to be worse than it was, it was just one of those accidents.

"I get on well with Laura and see her now and again when we do the interviews and we used to have the yearly awards. It was quite funny when it came out, and I was thinking ‘What’s going on here’. You read it properly and you understand what it’s about."

However, the pair are unlikely to meet at this year's Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship, with Woods having taken up a presenting role with TNT Sports. Beaton, meanwhile, is in first round action on Tuesday night when he takes on Wessel Nijman.
